Desk Area ~ Liebster Award Questions

What is the Liebster Award?

The Liebster Award 2017 is an award that exists only on the internet and is given to bloggers by other bloggers. – The Global Aussie

One. If you had to eat just one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is a tough one, as I love all food. Literally. But I have a hugeeeee love for Indian curries, I live in Bradford, which is the Curry Capital of the U.K. and I couldn’t be more happy about it!

Two. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?

I started blogging on the 1st of March, 2018. Yep, only 25 days ago! I started blogging to keep me busy when I got home, I got stuck in a cycle of go to work, come home, go to sleep and wanted to do something to inspire others. I thought what else than sharing my love of travel!

Three. How do you focus on getting traffic to your blog?

I really enjoy being part of the blogging community on Twitter, and often find a lot of my traffic comes from there, however, I have also tried to wrap my head around Pinterest and that seems to be working quite well!

Four. What is the best book you have read recently and why?

My favourite book I have read at the moment is Lonely Planet’s Ultimate Travel List, my partner got me this as a valentines day present in order to look for inspiration for our Round The World Trip next year! I love looking through and reading all the interesting facts about places I didn’t know! However, it’s making deciding on our RTW trip route pretty difficult, as I just want to see everything!

Five. Where are you planning on travelling to next?

I’m a big believer in the whole ‘you’re travelling as soon as you leave your front door’ idea, so I guess my next adventure would be Scarborough, U.K, my hometown where I am going for a few days away in the next would of weeks! However, if we are talking about overseas, my next planned trip is to New York City in August, although I’m hoping to fit in a weekend in Europe, possibly Amsterdam or Brussels if I can before then!

Six. Favourite part about blogging?  Least favourite part about blogging?

Favourite part of blogging has to be sharing and (hopefully) inspiring others! As well as meeting and reading other bloggers stories, and usually getting extremely jealous!

My least favourite part about being a blogger is pretty particular to my niche; travel. I currently have a full-time job and find it so hard to get away on as many trips as I’d like too, and see as many places as I want too!

Seven. What’s something you wish you knew before you began blogging?

Well, it took me a while to realise, but as a perfectionist I think I wish I had known I’d never be fully satisfied with my blog, I’ll always want to make little tweaks here and there. I guess I thought I’d set up my blog and be perfectly happy with it for the rest of time. I was so wrong!

Eight. Best lesson you’ve learned as a blogger?

Definitely to not obsess over traffic or numbers, I’ve realised I’d much rather have 10 followers that loved what I wrote than 10k followers that didn’t really care what I had to say!

Nine. Favourite inspirational quote?

It has to be ‘The world is a book, and those who do not travel, only read one page’ – St Augustine

Ten. What’s something on your bucket list?

I have a post all about my Bucket List you can check out here! If I had to pick just one though, I would love to go to the Cook Islands, they’re a little far out but seem so relaxing and chilled out, I feel like I’d be in my element!

Eleven. What your next big goal for your blog?

My next big blog goal is to get my head full around Pinterest and to improve my photography and editing skills! J’s parents bought us a Go-Pro for Christmas, so I’m excited to start using that!

I hope you enjoyed the short question and answer session! My nominees for the Leibster Award are:

Charlotte from Views of Venus

Great read, I love the response to question 8. So easy to get obsessed in the numbers and stop actually enjoying blogging.

Love these! It’s such a good way to learn about the people behind the blogs! I can understand about writing for a niche – it’s SO hard to travel sometimes, I feel like I’m letting my blog down at times!
