I was recently sent a lovely PR package from No1 Kombucha to review, I was super exited because prior to this, I had no idea what Kombucha actually was! Kombucha is a soft drink made with very minimal ingredients, and has live bacteria and enzymes that can really help boost your immune system. I was sent the Ginger & Tumeric Kombucha to try and I must say, I really enjoyed it! A totally different taste to what I was expecting, though I’m not really sure what I was expecting.
No1 Kombucha sent me a a drink and some other goodies in return for an honest review, which is what you will find below!
I’ve previously had turmeric and ginger in smoothies and it tasted a little like that, but as a light fizzy drink with less that 50 calories, gluten and dairy free and vegan. It took a little while to get used too, though I was really enjoying it in no time, and could actually see myself drinking this over my usual fizzy drinks. In a way, it was quite warming even though it was a cold drink!
History and Benefits of No1 Kombucha
Dating all the way back to about 200 B.C. in China, Kombucha was created because it is energising and detoxifying. Created with four simple ingredients; cane sugar, filtered water, green tea and symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast, then there are natural ingredients like botanicals and fruit juices added for flavour!
According to the website and the little bit of research I’ve done myself, No1 Kombucha is great for your gut, liver and brain, due to the antioxidants, probiotics and amino acids that are in the drink! I personally would much rather be getting this type of goodness into my body rather than the usual sugar/chemicals in my go-to fizzy drinks. I will be seriously thinking about changing up my usual drinks to a flavour of No1 Kombucha. I’m really interested in trying the other two flavours; Raspberry, Pomegranate & Hibiscus and Passionfruit & Goji.
I really loved this product, not just because it tasted good, but because it is good for you and is really accessible. You don’t have to do anything to get the goodness, simply picking up the bottle from your local Sainsbury’s! I would really suggest you give this, and if you’re looking for a pick me up this winter – No1 Kombucha is definitely worth a try!
