I had the best gifted experience with a Hydrafacial from the Skyn Doctor. I’ve always had ‘problematic’ skin. Not major acne but spots and little bumps under the surface of my skin that sometimes turn into spots. Whenever I have gone for a facial it’s usually at a spa where you book in for a facial you think will suit your skin type, and my skin usually does feel great after… for about a day or two! However, it’s been over a week since I had the Hydrafacial from the Skyn Doctor and my skin STILL feels fabulous. I’ve not been wearing as much makeup as my skin feels smoother and has less texture. What is a HydraFacial? Well, I’m going to tell you all about it!
I have also purposely not put any filters on any of these images so you can see the difference in my skin! Pretty nerve wracking with the ‘before’ image though as I’ve always been a bit self-conscious of my skin. I feel so much better with it now since the HydraFacial!
Step 1 – Detox and Lymphatic Drainage
The first step of the process is a lymphatic drainage. This helps to remove the toxins and bacteria, as well as reduces puffiness and helps unclog pores – this was something I definitely needed!
Step 2 – Re-Cleanse and Exfoliate
Then we moved onto the 2nd step, this removed layers of impurities and dead skin that are on the surface of the skin. This is a little bit like microdermabrasion, but instead of going just one layer deep, it goes three!
Step 3 – Peel
After it was time for the acid peel, this sounds a lot more scary than it actually was! There was a slight tingling sensation but nothing uncomfortable. This uses glycolic and salicylic acid to bring any impurities to the surface and softens blackheads and other things that clog up the skin ready for the next step…
Step 4 – Extraction
Personally, this was my favourite bit! This part used suction to extract any blackheads and congestion in the skin – it was so satisfying seeing all the impurities afterwards that had been removed!
Step 5 – Hydration
Then, it was time for some hydration and I think this helped my skin massively! I’m not the best at drinking water – so I think my skin loved this part! This step protects the skin and can help with texture (which was a huge bonus for me!) and appearance of aging.
Step 6 – Rejuvenation
Finally it was time for the LED therapy – this was strangely really relaxing! It’s used to stimulate the collagen in your skin as well as helping with anti-aging as well as soothing and reducing redness in the skin after the treatment.
Final thoughts of my Hydrafacial from the Skyn Doctor
My time at the Skyn Doctor was amazing. The staff were so friendly and I felt so comfortable, I honestly cannot believe the results either! It was such a nice way to relax and get pampered but also learn what my skin needed -not just guessing and booking in for a random facial I think sounds nice at a spa. At the Skyn Doctor the treatments are based on science and medical background with very highly trained staff, meaning they can push the boundary of skincare and aesthetics, and I believe it really makes a difference! It’s definitely made me rethink my skincare and I will definitely be going back to the Skyn Doctor for another HydraFacial and probably some other treatments!
